Who’s behind the tools at HURST Jaws of Life? Kim Holland, for one. The youngest of seven siblings and the only girl to boot, she brings organization, efficiency, spirit and a welcoming smile to her role as shipping clerk at the company’s Shelby, N.C., headquarters.
“I always wear a smile,” said Kim, who was in sales and customer service for 12 years prior to joining HURST. “If I can make someone else’s day, it makes mine, too.”
At HURST, she’s found a sense of teamwork and collaboration that fits with her work ethic and personality.
“We work as a team – all of us. We have to,” she said. “People are counting on these tools.
Kim keeps a fast pace to get HURST Jaws of Life® eDRAULIC®, 10,000 PSI and 5,000 PSI rescue tools out the door to first responders in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central and South America. At home, she keeps a fast pace, too.
A mother and grandmother, Kim describes her family as her life. She introduced her three granddaughters – ages 8, 11 and 13 – to her other love, a Suzuki 800 Cruiser motorcycle. She’s probably the coolest grandmother in town when she picks up any of the girls from school on her bike to go for a ride. Where does she like to go?
“I love to ride in the mountains,” she said. “And I love to ride the road less traveled.”
